What's the best aftermarket tire for Scrambler 500 4x4?

After much debate I went with the Duro excavator there really good at everything. They have a good tred pattern great for mud but there not over spaced like claws and swampers that arnt that great when you want to two wheel on big trails plus the swampers dont last long on scramblers.there also flat low profile so you can slide them if you want.Give them a look they have been great for me so far.

Well, I just raced today in the muddiest conditions I've ever experienced. The Holeshots worked really well. The only place I had problems is where it is really deep and soupy, the tire tends to float. Any tire would have done the same thing. In any case, the tires worked great, but I snapped a rear axle and watched my tire and wheel pass me out as I flew off the track and over a bank!

GE,
I still have my stock 489s on my bike but here is what I am going to do in the next few months.
First I will be purchasing ProWedges for my back tires and using them with my stocker front tires. ProWedges are great all around tires and really really hook up. They sort of look like minipaddle tires and are great in all kinds of terrain. Just about all the bikes in the group I ride with use them and they seldom get beat on the trail/sand/water etc. My buddy who has a 250R said the Honda Dealership where he is getting his porting work done sells the ProWedges as their OEM snow/mud tire. Sounds kinda funny to me but this may be a way to get cheaper tires.
Second I will be purchasing 25" 589MT all the way around. This will be for mudding mainly but will do nicely on creek rides and everything I have heard about these tires is they ride very well on the trail (unlike many mudding tires) I think 25" is the perfect size for the Scram 500 as it is not too large but gives you 3" extra to play with and will not take away as much power from your motor to turn them. At least that is what I am hoping. LOL
Oh yeah, definitely keep your stock tires and rims. I have had no problems with my 489s (once I slimed them that is) lol I have heard of people who automatically put on aftermarket tires and rims and leave their stockers w/the dealership for a break in the price. As I see it, it is always good to have an extra set of tires and rims laying around that can be used in a pinch.
Someday I hope to get paddles for use when I go to LA Dunes.....but that's a whole 'nother story.....hehehehehe.....

I don't know yet, I haven't picked up mine yet. The dealer found me a yellow one, but it might take a week to get it. But on the polaris catalog it says the 400 2x4 has all aluminum, but doesn't say the 500 4x4 does. Plus the 01 model weighs 29lbs more then the 00 model, so I asume they took out the aluminum wheels. but I could bo wrong. When I pick it up I will put a magnit to it to check.
