Default Thinking About Buying

I have a chance to buy a 1999 Sportsman 500HO 4x4
It has about 4,000 miles on it and the transaxle is bad.
I can buy it for $750.00
It is in good shape othere than the transaxle.
Is this a good buy or should i stay away?

I'd jump all over it and it only having 4000 miles is a big plus it's hardly been used . You can pay $750 for a set of tires not including the rims , buy it and enjoy .

it will not move in 2 wheel drive but you can put it in 4wheel drive and it will move but will make alot of noise.
What could it be and how hard and expensive would it be to fix it?

Just think of it as a learning project bring it home and go through it . The owner should be able to tell you whats going on with it and what needs replaced or repaired .

Even if the machine couldn't be fixed it would be worth well over $500 if not over $1000 just in parting it out. I personally would buy it in a heart beat for that price. At the worst part it out. But if you really don't want it just let me know. If it's close enough I'll come get it for that price!

Dont know what you mean by trans axle, it has a tranny and it has axles but not a transaxle, also they did'nt start the HO version till 2001, if it runs its worth at least $500
