All Polaris are True AWD only, the Air intakes for the belt housing and air box are at mid tank hight and since the Full size chassis Sportsman is a taller ATV then the mid size chassis of a Rancher it should go deeper. I stand on the seat for some crossings, that my lower 450 foreman would of been up to its handle bars.

I agree with TLC. One thing in deep water is to go slow enough to where water doesn't get splashed or forced into the vent tubes on the belt drives.

To add to EPIChad's sentence ...and just fast enough to keep a bow wake in front of your quad. I agree with what TLC said too.

If it has 27 inch tires I'd ask if he changed the clutching at all. 27s will slow the 500 down a bit. I run 26s and had a little bit of a slow down over the stock 25s which is what the 2000 came with also.
