2007 500 EFI starting problem
#1
Guys,
I have been having starting problems with a 2007 EFI Sportman 500 since the late winter. It has 131 miles on it ... so is not old. Was outside more than it should have been. (Battery has been replaced and is on a battery tender.)
I have disconnected each of the connectors I can reach, cleaned them, and replaced the dielectric grease.
Symptoms:
1) Sounds different when the key is turned in 4WD and 2WD. In 4WD it makes a low hum (I think that is the fuel pump). In 2WD it makes that hum for some seconds and then the injectors click and it goes back to the low hum.
2) Console does not light (show any numbers) while this is going on.
3) If I run 5 to 10 second bursts of the key on with the switch in 4WD maybe five times, then switch to 2WD ... the console will sometimes light and act normally. If that happens, the bike starts immediately and runs fine!
4) If it has started, it will restart relatively easily for a while. The longer it goes, the less likely it is to start.
Guys ... I REALLY need some help here. I can't afford to take this thing to the dealer and get hit with a $1,000 bill to fix it!!!
Would sure appreciate your thoughts!

I did a lot of searching. I did not find any recalls on the 2007 500 ho x2. I read many complaints about the Polaris's realiablity issues and problems. I bought used with only 30 miles. I put another 50 the first weekend with no issues. Wife will kill me if I have to put a ton of money into maintenance. I ride DS on a honda xr650l. I am spoiled with low maintenace and bulletproof.
