Default Does anyone have a 72inch plow on their bike???

I have a 2009 Sportsman 850 XP, I am debating putting a 72" plow blade on it, I know the 72" is "supposed" to be made for a UTV, but my 850 has more HP then any UTV (other then the Commander). So I'm thinking my bikes lack of weight might be the only issue...

Does anyone here plow with a 72" blade?

72" is not a good idea. The 850 is fairly high geared because of the extra hp and you may develope a belt problem with 72" blade.

I just picked one up but haven't used it yet. I'm sure the 850 has plenty of power but traction will be the issue. If plowing a short driveway with lighter snow you'll be OK but my opinion is you will be digging in the heavier stuff. If you plow a lot tracks would push it no problem but they aren't cheap.

Its not about hp its about traction ,a ATV is too light to push a 72" blade. A 500 Ranger even with less hp can still pull and push more than a 850 ATV because the Ranger weights 1200lbs. In low range power to the wheels is not a problem even on a 400 ATV.
My 19hp 2wd 900lb masey garden tractor with chains can out pull or push any ATV.

Maybe if you load your racks with sand bags you can do it.

I have been using a 72" Cycle country plow for about 5 seasons on my 500 sportsman with no problems.
Standard 2 1/2 ton winch and heavier front struts.
Works great.
I have chains on all 4 wheels.
