My 08 sportsman 500 acts like I have the brakes on, if I let off the gas it comes to a stop like Im breaking. U can feel it dragging me down. It doesn't do it all the time. Is there some kind of engine break ( like a forklift ) thats kicking in, I've had tons of electrical problems with this bike.

 

Do you have ADC? You do have engine braking, but it's not real severe. If you have ADC on, under 15MPH it will break hard when you let go of the throttle.

 

I agree with Jakes500. Almost forgot how hard they grab with ADC. My 09 800 lets me switch between running with or without it(usually run without). Picked up an 07 800 and it grabs right now when letting off the throttle.

 

I have ADC, but it does it in 2 wheel drive, and it's not all the time. Yesterday I ran it down the street to blowdry after washing, it started off fine but the first time i slowed down ( was doing about 40 ) I let off the gas and nearly went over the front ( hadn't applied the brakes) then I turned around and it wouldnt get over about 20mph and felt like the brakes where on.

 

jack it up to see if the wheels are spinning freely. is the e-brake sticking on?
