Default Winch question on sportsman????

Back last winter I picked up my 2007 sp 500 with a warn already installed. Today I was going through the bike getting ready for a ATV poker run this weekend, had the front cover off and noticed my winch pulls the rope in over the top? I thought this can't be right since I was always taught the line should run under. (bottom side) I checked all the paper work that came with the bike from the original owner. (nice that he kept everything) And according to the install instructions, everything is wired correctly. Does everyone's winch run this way on the sportsman's? Seemed kinda weird to me. Can I just flip the pos and ground at the winch to correct this or would I cause damage. Common sense tells me it won't affect anything but the direction of the motor.

Does your winch actually say Warn/Polaris on it or just Polaris?

It's a warn/polaris Not that this issue really matters, I was just a little puzzled by this since I'm used to seeing the cable being drawn in from the underside.

The only reason I asked is I thought that Polaris built ones might have threaded different than the Warn built ones. Guess not! I know my Warn built XT25 treads from the bottom. Guess it might be a matter of where the fairlead is mounted in relation to the winch itself.

i've install alot of differnt winches and a few differnt brands and they all spooled from the top. i really don't think it makes any differnce as there isn't any differnt gear differnce goign back or forward.

Well OK! I guess I won't worry about it since everything is wired in the correct order according to the paper work. Maybe there's nothing weird about it at all. I'm probably just becoming scitsofrinic from lack of sleep due to the fact that snow is just around the corner and every contractor in the tri-state area has lost their mind in a mad dash to get the concrete down. (Norm for the time of year) HELL! I see more of my co-workers in a day than I see my family in a week as of lately.

ya but look at all the money the goverment is making off your taxes from the overtime lol. you can actually wire the winch up w/ the cables going either way w/ out any issues(just makes the switch read backwards)

Sad but true about the government. I'm working for free today! Anything over 60 hrs throws me into a cold dark abyss where uncle sam sticks a double wide board right up your A$$ And I always hear, OH! you'll get it back at the end of the year. NOT! I'm going in this morning (won't be light for another two hours) and fingers crossed it won't be dark when I get home AGAIN!!!!
