3way headlight mod
I have a 2008 polaris sportsman 500 efi. I am going to install a 3way headlight mod with a 12v relay. My question is when i select the high beam switch all 3 lights will be on, but when i select the low beam switch will only the two bumper lights come? i know alot of guys have done this mod so please help. Also if i install a rear work light kit (quadovator.com) will it be to much on the charging system if i run the 3way mod and worklight kit at the same time while plowing with a winch? i have a battery tender.

high beam will be all 3 headlights. low beam will just be the 2 bumper lights.
add led lights to replace the stock bulbs in the work lights. it will help. i have led lights in my rear worklights and i also installed my self the auto reverse lights like a car. but i can also select on all the time. i plow alot with mine in winter. if you use all 3 headlights and a winch it will drain your battery id say in a few hrs. depends on how much you use the winch. short driveways will drain it more as it dont have the rpm and the time to put somewhat of a charge in the battery. the battery tender will help to keep it full when not in use. i used a tender last yr and it helped a bit.

Where did you source the led lights for the rear worklights and do you have a number for them?
That being said, the headlight is a #886 light and 50 watts. I was shopping around today for a higher wattage bulb to replace it with but did not have any success. The low beams are 37.5 watts but I did nto take thme out to see what part numbers they use.
I am satisfied with their brightness but dissappointed with the headlight at 50 watts. I just installed the 3 way system and I am sure it will be better than what it was but if we had a 80 or 100 watt headlight bulb it would be great if the system would handle the extra wattage in addition to the hand and thumb warmers.
Any suggestions without making the changer to HID's? I do not anticipate riding much at night other than the 1/2 hour rides at night back to camp from out in the field hunting so going to HID's is not worth the cost at this time.
I did a search on the subject and found a lot of comments and it appears that one must think of HID or change to the Xenon bulbs for any increase in lighting without overloading the stock system.
Am I correct in this line of thinking?
Also, is there any magic to removing the len's from either the low beams or the rear lights as they are not mounted with screws and I don't want to break them figuring out how to remove them.

I have answered some of my questions. The rear lens do not have to be removed to get at the 3157 light bulbs. I sourced LED bulbs locally for the rear stop/brake 3157's at $20.50 each CDN bu they are white and I want red as another source from the web indicated that you want to add the same color LED as the lens color.
I have also installed the overide so that is also looked after as well.
I have not been able to resolve the 886 headlight as yet so I may have to look at the solution that seems to be the most popular and that is a HID conversion kit.
I will look at the posts made and also check out e-bay and go from there.
