The rear suspension bushings (8 of them I believe) are deteriorating so badly that they are coming apart and falling out. This is on my 2007 Sportsman 500 Deluxe EFI. I only have about 50 hrs & about 100 miles on it, never abused or ridden hard and kept under cover. Replacement cost just for the bushings is about $8.00 each. I bought this atv new in 2007 and this doesn't seem normal to me.

Anyone else had this problem?

Heck no, our 1997 SP500 has the original bushings with 7500 miles and my 2001 SP500 with 3600 miles. and cant say there riden really easy either. Of course the bushing on those years of Sportsman all have grease fitting and get greased twice in a 6 month rinding season.

But 100 miles? that one tank of gas for me!
It take 500 miles for me to get up to 50 hour at a average trail speed of 10mph.

 

Seems pretty extreme unless you are hauling a lot of heavy loads but even then its not normal to ware that fast.

Could there be anything bent in your suspension causing some binding issues. Like an a arm or something.

 

Thanks for the response. The bushings I;m referring to have no grease fittings and I think they're part of the rear torsion bar suspension.

 

All the grease fitting were removed in 2004 I think, I,m not a great fan of maintenance free pivot parts. I can grease them faster,cheaper and easier then I can replace them.

 

Bushings will be cheaper on ebay. You can drill/tap for grease zerks which will extend the life of them. My guess is you have some crud in there that is causing premature wear. Best bet is to clean them up really good while apart before re-assembly. They should last much longer than 100 miles.

No it's is under cover of the porch. Thanks to everyone who responded to this. I went ahead and got new ones from the dealer and replaced them. These are just rubber bushings, 8 of then on the back suspension, each one between 2 large washers. Don't think it's possible to have any grease fittings on these.

 

Over 1,000 miles on my Sportsmans and all bushings are still tight. Must have beena string of crappy bushings? Were the replacements American made?
