Moveable Bearing / Bushing Situation
#1
I’m in the process of replacing some parts in my drive clutch and have ran into a snag. The movable bearing or bushing is back ordered about 2 weeks and due to storage issues I need to get things put back together. The atv involved is a 2005 Sportsman 800. The Polaris part number is 3514492, the description is “BEARING-DU,1.75ID”. I understand that it’s a 1.75” inside diameter bearing, but besides the height, what else is important if I try to source it locally? Or even better, if someone has already cross referenced this part, the specs would be super helpful. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Maybe you can find what your looking for in one of these. You'll have to roll back to the first page on the second link.SportsmanRiders.com :: View topic - Polaris Part numbers or Common part numbers - Page 4 - Rubber Down Customs

I forgot to mention i have a machinist and machine shop at my disposal. I took him the clutch half and it seems the bearing is a steel bearing, with copper on the outside and the inside is coated in Teflon. He’s suggesting that he just build a solid brass replacement. I’m not totally sold on that yet, so I’m still looking for an actual manufactured bearing.
