Don't Know Where to Start
#1
Hey All,
I am new to this site. I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot my 800 Sportsman. Never really had any problems with it before until now. I bought the 800 when it first came out (I think in 2004/5). I moved to Florida and didn't ride very much and had it stored in my shop (battery in) for 4 months.
Needless to say I had to cough up 130 bucks for a new battery. Since I moved back to NC and had left it in storage 2 more months. Now I can't get it to jump or anything. It just turns over. At one point I couldn't get the starter to stop spinning. It kept turning with key off while jump starting it.
I have changed the gas. Cleaned the plugs. Even tried to get it to jump off my Jeep. It just spins over without starting. Please give me an angle of attack. I have no problem with engines or electrical just can't identify all the necessary parts of my sportsman.
Thanks for any help.

Pull the flywheel cover and check magneto pickup, it could be out of alignment or corroded from storage.
