Winch running backwards

Switching the cables will do the job. Spooling the cable all the way out and in again will bring the cable in over the drum rather than under which is how the winch was designed along with the position of the fairlead.

If you notice when the cable is retrieved the roller fair-lead is in line with the bottom of the winch drum and by switching the direction in witch the cable is retracted you will need to move the roller up about 2 inches so the cable is in line with the drum once again. Keep in mind the least the cable contacts anything will prolong the cable life. By fixing the problem properly instead of using a band-aid will cost less in the long run.
