When riding in poker runs the radiator get plugged with mud and the quad overheats, any solutions to this.
i have a 2K warn winch which doesn't help, i have also put 1/4' mesh screen in front to block the heavy chunks of mud. i try to find a creek when i can to wash but most poker runs are in unfamiliar places.

I had the same problem. Costed me 100.00 to have it fixed. That's right I payed someone to take out my radiator and clean it. You see the problem is that it is dam near impossible to get between the cooling fins of the radiator by splashing water on it. Everytime you ride through mud or muddy water, spray it off EXTREMELY WELL using a garden hose, not presure washer as that could bend the cooling fins. I also have a warn 2500 winch on mine and it is a bitch to get at the radiator Spend sometime doing preventative maintainance and you will be rewarded. Trust me on this one. There is more between those cooling fins then you can imagine!!!

I have to agree with almar, keep your rad clean. After every ride wash the rad out thoroughly, preferably with a garden hose, a HP hose can be used but be careful if you get to close you will bend the fins. The best way to access the rad is to remove the side covers (a couple of Phillips screws and 2 O rings each side) stick the garden hose in and flush well. Make sure the water flows through the rad and out of the other side. I can usually ride all weekend without a problem as long as I clean it real well when I get home.
Hope this helps.

I had to take my shroud off there was a inch of baked on mud all over the radiator . I try my hardest to clean out the radiator after every ride but the only way to really clean it is to take off the shroud and get it clean that way.

I overheated this past weekend because of this problem. I have been using my garden hose on my radiator but I dont think it has enough pressure to knock the thick mud out. I am now using a pressure washer. Just be careful to not use it at an angle since it will bend the fins.

Someone should just make a screen for it thats easy to take off and put back on. Then the screen would take all the mud not the rad. Now when you wanted to clean it it would only take a minute to take it off and put it back on. I think it would solve this problem what about you guys.

Im not positive but I beleive the SP500 has a screen. My Rubicon does, but it still manages to get clogged.

The SP does have a screen but that will not help. When riding in muddy water the silt dries in the rad fins and accumulates until it plugs off altogether. Wash it regularly to keep it from accumulating.
