Default EPS question

Hey guys, i'm just about ready to get my quad, and while the interal debate lingers about 550 vs 850, I wanted to decide on EPS vs non-EPS. My biggest concern with EPS is the very simple fact its one more system to fail. So here is my question, IF EPS fails, will the bike just revert to manual control or will the ECU be disabled as well?

thanks!

IF your EPS goes out on you you will still have full manual steering control similiar to the old 500/800's

good enough for me, i'm thinking the 550 eps will be at the house soon :P I really want the 850, but can't find enough justification for getting the bigger engine, i'm a trail rider

My thoughts are once you have an 850 you'll never look back and say, man I wish I had only bought the 550. If you buy the 550 will you second guess your decision on not having opted for more right in the beginning ?

not sure if I would do that, I haven't ridden either one yet, the closest I've come was an 06 500, so everything will be faster and more powerful. lol

I started out riding a 2006 polaris 450, it had plenty of power for the trail riding i did, but when i bought my own ATV i got a 2011 sportsman 550 eps that`s fuel injected. There is quite a noticable difference in power and is more than enough for the trail riding i do. If i did any rock climbing or mudding then the 850 would be the best choice for the added power, but i don`t do any of that and im more than happy with the 550.
