I'm slowly putting my 02 Sportsman 700 back together and even having a repair manual, I cannot remember how the rear skid plate strap bolts in at. It looks to me it's supposed to tie in at the front of the lower A frame bolts but not sure.

Can anyone here take a look at their machine and see if that's the correct location?
(It's a small 90 degree angle steel about 9" in length in front on the rear gearcase)....

For that matter, what's its purpose?
