Default CVT belt drive help please

I have been having a hard time shifting lately then today I started to hear a belt squeal. I took off the cover and noticed the top pulley (the one you use the tool on to remove the belt) was moving all the time in all the gears. Any special tools needed to remove this part? Also I need to mention I did have a belt blow some time ago and think maybe something is stuck somewhere causing this. The belt it self still looks like new. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

Thanks,

Its a good chance its your one way bearing on the primary clutch is worn out or sticking. With the belt off see if the center hub of where the belt rides in the primary turns freely. It should nice and free one direction. If it sticks you might be able to blow it out some and work it so it turns free. If its totally stuck its probably need a new one. You could also be missing the washer that should be on the side of the bearing allowing the bearing to contact the clutch and spin the belt. The washer can ware away after a while.

If needs to be replaced it takes some special clutch tools to replace.

sounds like the ebs bushing or the fiber washers are getting bad. unless you get lucky enough to have the belt threads or what not stuck in between the one way bearing. if it needs to come apart then it requires special tools. take off the clutch and bring it to a dealer to fix if need be. imo

If I rermember right you have a new 850 xp , dont you? If there are threads from the old belt wound around in the clutches it could cause your problems , remove the belt and check everything over real well for debri

take the secondary off and see if there is debri wrapped up on shaft, seconary should not move tillprimary moves it, its attatched to tranny, if its moing , primary is creeping , must have ebs washer or alighn ment issues, all that snow plowing may have broken a motor or tranny mount and have things out of alignment

****************UPDATE****************

Well I took the quad to my mechanic Rob in Woodstock. He tore it apart while I was there. The EBS had fused it self into the primary. Since it would not spin it was causing the issue with shifting and crawling. Most likely from when I blew my belt about 900 miles ago. Some crap got into it causing the issue down the road. ( Or maybe I should say trail! ). $165 in parts on order from my contact in Two Rivers WI. BTW if anyone here in the area is looking for a expert mechanic that knows Polaris let me know.
