Removing reverse help
#3
Tim the reverse gear is coming out of my Trail Blazer I race an it weight is 265lbs. i looking at removing the bottom gear an there will be a space open between the bearing an the orward gear an need to know If need to make a spacer or will it be fine with the gap?

You can't remove reverse, I would'nt even mess with the transmission like that. For one theres no aftermarket kit out there for reverse removal.
If it's not effecting performance, let it loan.

In theory a Trail Blazer or Scambler would not even need a tranny if reverse is not a issue. It could just run like a sled and have a drive sprocket right off the shaft from the secondary clutch.Just star it up and it will not move at idle unless the gas is applied ,just like a sled. The utility bikes could not do this because they would loose reverse and low range both.

I totally agree with Tim 1. If you are looking to loose weight that bad, you could just take the case out alltogether and just make a shaft for back there.
Now that you won't be needing that pesky reverse tranny. I'll swap you for one that already doesn't have it. "cept I need one with that front shaft thing going one there. LOL!

If you look an the older polaris pre concentric drive the cases also act as part of the bolting for the swingarm an sapport for the bolt the bolt has a end that gose into the case where there is a brass bushing. To run just the jack shaft would be tough concendering that you would have to either rasie the sproket up around 5" up. In racing motocross every ounce counts an can make the differnce in losing an wining the race an with that being removed will help in accelaratinon thanks for your thoughts
