Default 97 400 scrambler manual

why can't i find a manual for a 1997 scrambler 400 4x4? all i see are 85-95 400 or 97-00 500.... i ordered one, but it was for a 500... if these are the only ones available, which am i better off with?

Not sure if this will help or not but my Polaris user manual ( not shop manual, just the generic Polaris manual for 1998 models) for my 1998 trailblazer has got all the stuff listed for my 1996 scrambler in it. Things such as grease zerks, counterbalance oil, hub fluid, front drive chain etc. It appears the 1998 scramblers were the same as my 1996 scrambler as all the info in my book relates exactly to my 1996. If yours is chain drive also I would bet that the 1995 manual u are looking at will work fine for you. Or maybe you can find a 1998 manual?

And I would go with the 400cc manual as if I am correct the 500's are four stroke where the 400's are two stroke.

Default polaris 400 1998

I am looking at polaris 400 1998 at a dealer. I am very new to ATV's and wonder if you know of any drawbacks to this model or positive feed back that might help me.

I'm still learning about these myself. I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people on here to ask. try starting a new thread to ask your question. more people will see it that way.

as far as I know, if the counterbalance oil is clean and the top end is tight, it should be good.

As long as the manual is for chain driven 4x4 it should be the same besides maybe the elecrical. I know the 500's seemed to change electrical about every 2 years. The one thing with the older chain driven 4x4 is it can be a pain to keep the chains adjusted correctly.
