Default Catastrophic!

Yep, havent posted in a while. Buddy of mine didn't tighten his chain on a regular basis. he's got a 2005 Polaris Trailblazer 250...... I guess the chain broke and bound up at the gear housing. The housing broke and all the gear oil came pouring out. I guess it still runs....and it's a little beat, but I wanna buy it for parts....but if I can fig it, I will.
I need help. it looks like it was just the outer casing that broke. Looks like a gasket, some gear oil, another chain, and a gear housing cover....Is that it????

I replaced more cases than I want to remember. Customers would only want to replace the right case side that broken(which is understandable), but seems like I had to modify every new right case side because when I would get em together they wouldn't shift right or not at all! When you replace non matching cases this is to be expected.Usually had to burr out where the shift fork shafts inserted in case.Seems like all mine weren't small cracks, just big hunks of metal torn out when they tore em up. But at least its not like KTM or several other makers where you have to buy complete cases. OPT

I've seen it happen too. I seen it happen twice on a particular 425 magnum. Didn't Polaris eventually put a guard around the sprocket so that a thrown chain was less likely to bust a hole in the case?

so, guys I can get this for 150$. I think just in parts alone it's worth it. I think I wanna get another trans and slap it in. How involved is it.......any chance a tranny from a trailblazer400 or trailboss will work??
