Hawkeye 300 Question OPT on anyone who my have a clue...

Just got a 2006 Hawkeye 300 in shop from a friend.He just bouught it and the atv only has 300 miles.The atv runs great up to 20 mph the starts spiting and sputtering and no power.Pull the choke out and it still runs the same up to 20 MPH.Any suggestions as to what my be the problem????

there was some issues with jetting,one of the cures dealers were doing was drilling holes in the air box. have you tried removing the top of the air box to see if it makes a difference? is the intake restricted some how?

There was a "Teams Tips" bulletin on the Hawkeye if I remember correctly about raising the slide needle,plus I found a couple where the vent lines were collapsing under the fuel tank,causing them to run crappy. Have heard of guys installing Dyna Jet kits in em,BUT we never sold and serviced that many Hawkeyes and wasn't able to get too involved with them. COULD be something as simple as WATER in the tank!! can do the same thing,runs good up to a certain point,then trying to throttle up will suck up water and start cutting out. Drain some fuel in a clear container,plus drain carb bowl. If water is in it will show at the bottom of the container after it sets a while,then a tank flush may solve the problem?? OPT
