95 425 magnum shiftin problems.

Default 95 425 magnum shiftin problems.

can anyone help with some ideas what might be my problems took the shifter apart everythings workin fine there it must be in the gear box /tranny. my first polaris the gears seem to be there if ya wiggle it around enough you can find them.... is there a part that gets worn on these models maybe.? thank you for any help..

If you are having problems getting into gear,grinding,etc the shifter assembly on the old atvs are the main cause. You can try and adjust the shift linkage from the shifter to the transmission and see if it helps. You can tear the shifter assembly apart and things may "look" good,but if there is a lot of slack forward and back in the shift lever,then it might be better just to replace the shift box assembly as replacing most of the worn parts would cost as much as a new shifter. I hope this is what you are talking about?? Make sure the belcranks ( aluminum levers on the transmission ) are tight and not slipping on the transmission also. OPT
