cover bearing
#1
hey polaris tech, could you just take the bearing out of the cvt cover, mine is making a lot of noise, changed the bearing, didn't help; the other day i had the cover off to check the belt because over the winter i was hearing a noise like something was smacking the cvt cover, like a piece of the belt or shred if you will,it done it for awhile then quit after a few weeks, then the other day,i was going down a little hill and the ebs didn't work,so i backed up the hill an went down again,it done it the second time, hasn't done it since, just trying to give you a little back ground, the only thing i found in the cover was alot of black rubber residue,no pieces of belt like i thought i would or strands if you will, but anyway polaris says to lock the bearing to the cover with green loctite,i was trying to get the bearing out,i removed the snap ring and tried to get the bearing out,got tired of trying and quit, put the snap ring back in,and noticed the bearing wasn't moving around and up and down like it was before i tried taking it out,so i put every thing back together and started it up and rode it a little while, hey no noise i was so excited that clanking noise was gone,i guess i got the bearing stuck side ways so it wouldn't move up and down smacking the cover, but anyway the noise is back, why does that bearing have to be in there anyway,i don't understand it's purpose, what could it hurt to just remove it completely...............

First off what machine do you have and what year?? Are you talking about the one way bearing noise in the front clutch? Or the plain bearing in the clutch cover plate?? OPT

Kinda understand know where your coming from now! The bearing on the cover on this type clutch system is there as a guide I believe for the front clutch. This system is either Aeon or E-ton,CAN'T remember which one! Didn't work on too many of these,in fact I think I just replaced a belt on only one and you have to take the front clutch apart to do that! If you can't get the bearing out,any shop should have a small inner bearing puller to get it out. Best I can do off the top of my head right now. I'll try to check out the system breakdown and see if I can be of better help! OPT
