Default 330 trail boss dies at half throttle

Hey everyone, I bought my wife a 2003 trailboss 330 and we took it to florence for our yearly dune trip. It worked great and she really enjoyed it. I got it home and took it to a car wash to get all the salt water and sand off of it . Got it home and the following weekend I put new brakes on it for her. While I was testing out the new brakes it would not want to run very well popping spitting and backfiring , I figured I must have gotten water somewhere ? I have pulled the flywheel side cover off and didnt find any water but it was dirty in there so I cleaned everything up , I never pulled the flywheel , cleaned carb. checked all wire connections, tried to test coil got 13,000 ohms from the one connector on the coil to spark plug cap. put a new plug in it ( It kind of acts like my 250r did when a plug would foul ) Now it will run up to about 3/4 rpm and want to die. If you let off the throttle it will come back but if throttle is mashed it will want to die. . I pulled the muffler off to verify that it wasn't plugged also . The fuel pump seems to work fine also, I pulled it loose from the carb and started the quad and it pumped quite a bit of fuel out .I am kind of at a loss right now , if anyone has any ideas please let me know !! Thanks for your time !!

Check the carb itself for water in the bowl, just drain and if water is present you will see the water bubbles. If doesn't help then go further on electrical connections, clean connections with electrical contact fluid if you have it,blow out the residue, use niogel(electrical grease) on the ALL the connections from the cdi, coil, control module, etc.Plus check the etc switch in the throttle control for moisture. Too much pressure from car washes can cause problems. OPT

Thanks for getting back to me so quick !! I puled the carb off and gave it a once over, didn't really find any water but it was a little dirty ,It was having a cold blooded thing going before so I am hoping I cured that. I have been checking all the connections , blowing them out as well as some dielectric on the connections , I may double check one more time . The etc has me kinda wanting to check that because it almost seems that is what could be going on, Ill go there next . Yea I will be more careful with the car wash next time !! This is driving me nuts . Ha

Default Need help - same issue

Hi - I have a 2003 (as well as 2 2005 and 1 2006 Trail Boss 330s). I'm having the same issue with my 2003. It starts, gets warm and will idle for 24 hours if I left it running. However, giving it 1/2 + throttle and it will sputter and die. I'm doing this in neutral but I know if I got on it it would go 150' then die.

Did you have any luck with yours?

Have you checked the carb main jets for trash, is the gas old? plus is the tank vent open and not kinked?? OPT
