Default I can't get a front wheel off! 96 sportsman 400

Hi All. I'm working on a 96 sportsman 400 that was recently given to me. After dealing with an oil pump issue, I decided to move on to dealing with leaking front hubs. I tried to remove one of the front wheels for the first time since it was given to me and one of the lug nuts just spins. The wheel stud isn't spinning....just the lug.

So, does anyone have any tips for removing a stripped lug nut? I'm assuming it's the lug nut that's stripped and not the stud.

Thanks!
-BJ

Sounds like die grinder time! I've had em like this or have the stud spin and ain't fun. If its just the nut just cut through it part way and see if a sharp chisel blow will help.I would have a new stud and nut nearby though OPT

Yep use a cutoff wheel and cut the it off....push the stud out and put a new one in! I used a bigger size and had it tacked in to hold it. Mine was a case of the stud stripped in the hub...

Ok, Thanks! All I currently have is a 7 inch grinder and a dremel rotary tool. I think I'd do too much damage with a 7 incher! I guess I'll give it a try with the dremel first and see how that goes before buying something else.

Thanks again,
BJ
