Default Dirt & Mud everywhere...what to do?

So I got my wheeler pretty dang muddy and I am going to do a carb kit to it and a couple other things. Before I get started is it okay to remove the side panels, seat, hood, ect...and use a power washer to get all the mud and dirt off and around the engine, under body, and everywhere else?

I used to take the front, rear cabs and the side panels off mine. Bought a light weight portable sprayer. Got really good at taking those quads apart and putting them back together. If it's a chain drive, don't power wash it directly. Same with the axle seals. Once it's clean, you can put a variety of stuff on the plastic to help the mud come of next time.

What do you recommend for the panels?

As far as when they're clean? What ever you put on the rest of the plastic.

Try the underside first whatever you use. Just in case it does discolor it.

I heard of people spraying on Pledge furiture polish to keep mud from sticking. Don't get the power washer too close to the radiator because it can bend the fins. They can blow off decals too.

The only thing else I can think of is be careful power washing the panel that has the heat shield tape on the inside. It needs to be there to protect the plastic.

I don't powerwash just because it could do damage and get water in places it doesn't belong. A little elbow grease and taking as much plastic off as you can helps to get in all the nooks and crannies. I've heard from a lot of folks up here that ride at the local OHV park( old iron ore mine area so lots of taconite dust) that any cooking spray liberally applied before ridng makes clean-up much easier!
