Default 2011 sportsman 500 alternator

I have noticed with a radio hooked to my quad and it running I get the flashing battery light. I noticed today(no radio on it today had it reved to about the 2,000 mark) on a ride when sitting and reving to 2,000 RPMS letting out the winch it was blinking also. so here is my question how hard is it to put a bigger alternator on it and what do you guys think it will cost me to do so? the winch is a 3500 pound winch but had NO load on it letting it out to hook onto someone

You might have a bad battery I dont think a radio would pull that much from a battery to make the light flash the winch would at idle but not up around the 2K mark. I dont know but do the one use an alt. or still the stator and regulator?

I have the same bike but with handlebar and thumb warmers.3500lb winch,
I have winched the bike without reving on dry ground without any prob.I would get it checked before you end up stranded.

this bike does not have an alternator. the stator/recifier does the charging with an out put around 500 watts i think. you have something wrong for sure as neither one of those should cause the light to flash. check the battery as mentioned for being bad.

I have tested the battery it checked with a multimeter I have an appointment on Thurs to take it in and put it on the diagnostic computer to see what it says. It does not make sense to me as I have a battery tender on it every night (could it be a faulty battery tender?)

Have you actually had the battery tested with a load tester and not just a multimeter? Meter will show only the voltage but won't show the battery condition under loads or voltage drop, bad cell, etc(any auto store has em and will check battery for you)). Also is it charging properly at 14-14.5 volts while running? OPT

its in the shop now getting gone through I also noticed that the throttle adjuster was broke off at the carb so they are putting that through warranty and going through the diagnostics on the charging system I will let you all know what they say when I get it back

they called me yesterday and the carb adjuster is on order and the reason the battery was draining they said was a kink in the winch cable? they said they straightened it and havent been able to reproduce the drain I have only used it about 5 times for trees down and pulling others out and always make sure to "wave" it back and forth to get an even layer and not bind it so not understanding how this happened but was thinking about changing from cable to rope just havent had the extra $ to do it yet which is better cable or rope ? I have heard people favoring both
