Default 1998 Magnum starter problem.

I did a search on the problem I am having but couldn't find anything that was the same. My starter was spinning over earlier today exactly the way it should be until the battery went dead. I have been neglecting the beast for the last couple months so it has been sitting. The battery is new this year so I threw the charger on it and about 3 hours later tried it again and I can hear a spinning noise but the engine doesn't pop any more. I can still pull it and it tries to start but the electric starter is just doing the quiet spinning now. I found on another post on a different site someone saying recitifier, some other say stator? Anybody have this issue before that can give me a good place to start? If so how much would it cost and is it something I should tackle or should I just take it in?

Thanks all for your help.

If the starter turns over but not the engine, might be time to pull the recoil housing and check out the starter bendix. Could need cleaning/greasing or replacement. OPT

Okay so today after a bunch of dinking around I did get it started it runs pretty good, I got as much of the old gas out as I could but there is stuff floating in it. I can run the engin on 1/2 choke and choke very well but when I put back to idol it starts to have some issues not idling fast enough to keep the motor running, I think there is something blocking the fuel line. if I get on the 4 wheeler and shake the living heck out of it, it will idle okay for about 20 seconds and then goes back to the same really slow idle.

Is there and easy way to drain out the works so I can flush it out?

thanks.
