2002 500 hp
#1
I bought a used 2002 500 HP with the EBS clutch. At half throttle the clutch really kicks almost throwing you off the machine. Then when slowing down about half throttle the clutch drops down almost throwing you over the handle bars. Replaced belt didn't help could it be the spring and weights and how will I find out what the OEM parts if someone already has changed them. Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like not only time to have the one way bearing and washers looked at in the front drive clutch, but also the plain bearings in the clutch sheaths themselves for galling and sticking! I've had them brought in like this, and they ain't NO fun to ride, especially when you feel you're about to go over the bars when you let off the throttle! If you don't have the spider tool and the clutch puller best to let the dealer look at it. Usually I had to replace the fiber washer and the metal washer under the one way clutch(greased up the one way)replace worn clutch buttons(if needed) and if the plain bearings in the clutch sheaths were worn down to the brass on the bearing, time to replace them also! Dry one way bearings can affect this also, but I usually couldn't get by just doing a "partial" clutch service! Plus a good idea to check out te rear clutch too! Can get expensive if you don't do your own work,BUT you also have to have the proper tools! OPT

the 500 ho does have good engine braking but not that bad as opt has mentioned. maybe have them check for an aftermarket clutch kit in thier as well. how many miles onthe bike and is it stock that you know off including tires?
