Default Battery Tenders (chargers) ?

I need to buy a battery tender to keep my 09 400 charged through the winter. A couple of things. Are the Schumacher ones in Wal-Mart any good and what amp charger do I need? I do not need a charger to charge batteries or start cars as I already have one.

Yuasa,Battery Tender brand, etc. As long as you can leave it hooked up and it "floats" or maintains the battery.Usually you can get em pretty cheap and they come with alligator leads or can mount permantely to your battery. They will usually have three lights. Red for power,Yellow(charging state),Green (floating)
Most of em are 1.25 amps. Wally world is a good as any if it does do what the ones up above show. OPT

I've been using Deltran tenders for many years on my motorcycles, atvs, and motorhome. Never any problems.

I currently own 4 of the Schumachers that are on my sportsman/ranger/lawnmower.66 Ford that I bought 2 years ago and so far they have all worked perfectly. I leave all of them plugged up year round. They also come with both the alligator clips and the ring terminals so you can mount permanently. The quick connects have the cap so when you are ready to ride, it keeps all of the dirt/debris from entering the contacts. I think I paid 19 bucks each.

Hope this helps.

Battery Tender Jr. on my Harley and my Sportsman. Much easier and cheaper than replacing the battery on my Road King and ensures that the Sportsman will start. I even have an "adapter" for cigarette lighter accessories (phone chargers, etc.) to use on my bike.

I just ride year round. Don't need a tender.
