Default Rolled my 04 Sportsman 500

The only damage to me is my pride. The quad is another story I was riding under a fallen tree and a branch was sticking out and pulled the trottle cable out of the box and thats when thing went south in a hurry. No time for me to hit the key or shut off switch I hit another tree on the groung and it started to roll so I got my old fat a$$ off of it. I got towed back to my house and have the following damage l/f flat and bent wheel (tire has a big cut in the sidewall, throttle cable, kill sw (part of light sw) left tie rod and ends left footwell, rear rack and mounting frame, and some other stuff. I called the Ins. co. and they came out and the adjuster looked it over and said it looks like the frame is bent. If that's the case he said they might total it due to it being an 04 but he has to turn in his report so I won't know for a couple of days. If it's totalled due you think it's worth buying back and just doing what is needed to get it back on the road and forget about the little stuff. I don't beat this thing and can't afford a new one (she won't let me) the adjuster said if it comes to that he would just fix it and ride it like nothing happened. He said the issue with the frame is that nobody will certfy that the frame is 100 percent due to liability. Thoughts. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Good to hear you weren't hurt. At least pride doesn't take a cast.

If it were two wheel drive, I might. That's just me, but others may have actually done this and never had any problems.

Other option, if you have the time and space, is buying it back dirt cheap and parting it out. Ask them how much it's going to cost them to come pick it up, and take it to a place that wants it. That's what I'd offer. Maybe even less. Might want to remind them not only do they have the cost of pick up and delivery, but someone has to make phone calls, cut checks and I'm sure they have more stuff to do. Remember, you're doing them a favor by keeping it.

Have had a few customers buy them back from insurance companies after they were "totaled" in most cases from the "eyes" of the adjuster and either repaired them and sold em or kept em for the major parts. Lot of guys came out pretty good, but don't know about their future insurance premiums whether insurance premiums went sky high or whether they were classified "not insurable"? . Also have had extended warranties canceled because of mods or abuse and customers reimbursed for the portion of time they had left on the extended warranty. Lot of these guys were pissed, but usually brought it on themselves! OPT

The adjuster just called me and it's shot. He is over 3K with the frame and still counting. The NADA (thats what they use and you cant argue it) is a little over $2500.00 The adjuster said he thinks it's about 30-35 % of the book value to buy it back. So now I have to wait for the call from the insurance co. with the official word.

I'd still offer 200 bucks to keep it. You could always put it in the man cave and write it off on taxes as art.

I can buy it back for about $550.00 I just jacked it up and took a good look what the adjuster thought was cracked on the frame is not a crack. So i'm looking at both tie rods, L/S a-frame, rear rack and mounting bracket for the rack, throttle cable (i think i need to move the carb back for that) and some misc. stuff. Looking at about $800.00 to get it done I checked the steering shaft and it looks ok to the eye so I don't think I will be doing to bad.

It's probably not worth making a claim given the deductible and higher premiums?
