Default 05 500 Valve cover leak

Is the gasket re usable on these or is it paper.
It looks like the cover is leaking (sweating) but I understand it couls be the pcv vent hose too?
At 1850 miles should I be checking the valve lash while I'm in there?
Thanks
Ken

If you've never adjusted the valves with 1850 miles I'd say get in there and do it and replace the gasket while your in there. Not a tough job.

Check too to see if you're missing the front left valve cover bolt. Seems like I had a bunch of 500s that came in for service and just this one bolt had vibrated out and the valve covers were a little oily! Don't know if this was just a regional thing or what?? OPT

Ok I'll look for that, is the gasket rubber or paper?
Reason i asked is I looked on ebay and and there was a used one that the dude wanted $10 for plus almost that much shipping, lol

I guess i should order a new one just to be sure, and check on the bolts.

Valve cover gasket is paper and if you don't tear it you can always just wipe off the oil and use a little Three Bond 1104 or 1194 back on the gasket and reuse it!(same as the old Yamabond sealant!) If you do tear it(part of it comes off on the valve cover) then replace it. I reused them and with the Three Bond never had leaks. Just depends on how particular or **** you are about the gasket!
