it is pretty much identical to the 500 biggest difference is the motor 335 air cooled vs 500 liquid, I think there is a little more rear suspension on the 500? but if i remember correctly it was not much. Allot of people thought it was under powered. but the people I know that have them love them, they got all the good ride and all that for less money.

Jacob,
If your not looking for a powerhouse quad and you can get a good deal on it, it's a very nice machine. The 335 has got a lot of bad press on this forum for being under powered. I would put it more in the class of sufficiently powered. I have never been on a trail ride where my 335 could not go where my 500 did. Its no where near as fast as my 500, but it tops at around 45 mph. You can usually find 335's cheap because they were discontinued in favor of the SP400. The main difference in the 335 to the 500 is obviously the smaller air cooled motor, and the rear shocks are a smaller diameter. The tires are also a bit smaller but much easier to steer. My wife is the primary rider of the 335, and I feel a little safer with her not having too much power.

The SP335 is a great bike. It has its good points and bad points. It has no water pump seal to leak, which is common on the SP500s, but it has u-joints on the rear which can be a problem if you run agressive tires. The motor is very simple, and the drive line is made to take the abuse of the 500 motor. It has plenty of low end grunt to turn the tires, and the GC of the SP500. It is actually one of the best mudders on the market.

I have a friend with a 335, and it is a good machine. But it would be the last polaris I'd buy. It is heavy, "loose", and underpowered. My dad's farm machine, a honda 300 with heavy Kenda Rampage tires, would easily beat it in a drag race. Top speed was about the same on both though. Maybe it's just me, I'm used to a faster and lighter machine, but I wasn't too impressed. Try a sportsman 400 or 500. the "old" 500's with the standard 500 engine are everywhere at the dealers. Everyone wants the HO, and are trading thier older sportsmans.Either the 400 of 500's are a big impeovement over the 335. My friend is either getting a 400 or 500 soon too, to trade in the 335.
