99 trailblazer crank bearing install question
i am doing the crank bearings on a 1999 polaris trail 250. on the pto end of the crank with the double bearing, the inner bearing(the one toward the crank journal) is a different part number. so i looked at the bearings closley when i removed them. the inner bearing has a tapper on the inside race on both sides of the bearing. the all ***** racing crank bearing kit i recived only has a tapper on one side of the inner race. the numbers on the bearing match the one on the bearing i took off. im wondering which way the taper has to go.

It's actually beveled to allow more oil to work its way between the bearings since it's only supply is through the fuel mixture! That's why the original (3085890) bearing was beveled on both sides and goes on the crank first then one of the two flat raced(3084580) bearings is installed. The bevel goes inward as mentioned toward the crank half "IF" you have only one side of the bearing beveled on the replacement bearing! The other (3084580) magneto end bearing is flat and doesn't need this bevel since it's just the one bearing. OPT

thanks for the info. one more question. the original shim that was behind the bearing was chewed up from the bearing going bad. i took measurerments as stated in the service manual. according to the measurements i took. it looks like i dont need any shim. is this possible. also when taking my measurements of the case depending where i took the measurement around the bearing seating surface, the measuerment would differ .2 to .4 mm. id really like to get this right the first time.
