Well, on my xpedition 425 cc 5-speed. This last saturday, I picked up my atv with my new 27 inch mudbugs put on. They are a taller tire all right, BUT, They seem narrower then my 26 inch mudbugs. I did have 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the rear. Now I have 27x10x12 on the front and 27x12x12 on the rear. My old 26 inch rear tires seem wider then the bigger ones. I had a little dissapointment as Its the same manufacture and the
same mudbug tire and thus I was expecting that the
new 27's would be the same tire only 1 size bigger. The 27's are more round. I am going to go on a few rides and test out these new tires and do my own mental comparrisons as I remember how my 26's performed. So my personal jury is still out. I have decided to hang on to my 26's. I think they are more valuable to me that what I could get for them. I may go back to the 26's, if I am not satisfied with the 27's. I just did not and do not understand why they would be so different from the same manufacture?????????

Can anyone shed some light on this?

As far as the size, The size is written built right on the tire and they specify what I said above. I did not measure them but I set them by each other. As far as air pressure. What ever they
put in at the dealer when they put the tire on my rims. I was going to check that to, but it was the one thing I forgot to check. I do not think they put too much air in them though. They did seem right(feel right). rangerchet

It may just be that sice they are taller they don't seem as wide. I would measure and see if it was am optical ollisuion.

Well, I sent an e-mail to jeff newman at highlifter and asked him. No reply yet. My dad, my brother, a friend of my dads and me all say that the 26 inch tire is wider. I put the old 26 up against the 27 and I swear to god the 26 is wider then the 27. I don't get it.

I wonder if there is such a thing as the tires being brand new, that they might stretch out and flatten out after some use and actually take shape
and then be as wide as the 26'ers? I will wait to hear if Jeff can tell me anything? rangerchet

One of the selling points of the MudBug tires is that they has been promoted as being lighter than competitive tires.

To achieve this weight advantage.... some of the MudBug customers over on the Highlifter Forum say that they were manufacturing shorter tires than they were rated at.

For instance the 26" tires were really like everybody else's 25" tire. I don't know, that is what I heard. I hope that it is not the case.

Now if that was true (and we don't know that it is) perhaps Maxxis made the 27" tire narrower than the 26" tire (less width=less rubber=less weight) for another round of low weight advertising claims. Like I said, I sincerely hope this is not the case.

However, there were jokes being made that MudBugs new 25" tire was really a 23" tire.

I hope they are not playing that game and cheating their customers in the process.

I was at my local Yammy dealer the other day to look at 26" Mud Bugs. They had a Kodiak with 26x10x12 up front and 26x12x12 on the rear. Parked along side the Kodiak was Griz with 27" Blackwaters on it. It was easy to compare the height of the Mud Bugs against the Blackwaters cos they very close to each other. To my surprise the Blackwater looked to be at least 1.5" taller than the Mud Bugs and there is only supposed a 1" difference. Too bad I didn’t have a tape measure with me.

Well maybe the jokes are true. I have in my possission, 4 26 inch mudbugs and 4 27 inch mudbugs, the same size except the first size 26 versus 27's and I swear, the 27's are narrower. I am going on a ride with the gang on april 1st. and will try them out. If I don't like them, The 26's are going back on. They were good tires. I dont know what I will do with the 27's. I am disappointed right now because, I dont think it was un-resonable for me to think that when the 27's came that they would be just as wide as the 26's when thats what is stamped on the tires!

I have not heard back yet from highlifter. I am wondering, if i will? All I can say then, is BEWARE!

I have a mud tires test in a mag at home and they found that they posted size and the actuall size of many of the top mud tires were grossly off by quite a bit. it had the weight of the tires too. I will scan it and post it. I know when i go to buy some new tires I am going to take a tape measure with me. One I think was a 27 but actually was more like 25.5!

What size rims are they mounted on? My 27x12x12 mug bugs were actually 27x11 with 10 PSI on 12.8 ITP steel wheels and my 27x10x12 mug bugs were actually 27x9 with 10 PSI on 12.7 ITP steel wheels.
