Default 99' Ranger 6x6 Tranny question (need help)

I have a 99' Polaris Ranger 500cc 6x6 and have a unique transmission problem. The shift linkage is fine, it shifts into D1, D2 and reverse just fine, but in using D1 or D2, it won't automatically shift into the higher gear in each one. D2 is now acting like D1 and D1 will only allow me to go about 4mph.

Transmission oil is new and full. Could this be a clutch issue?

I really need help trying to find a solution to this annoying problem.

Welcome to the forum! D1 is low range and designed to be the primary drive range for most applications on the old Ranger. D2 is high range and designed for over 10 mph under a no load situation such as driving down a dirt road. There is no shifting from gear to gear as in in a automatic transmission car!! There is a smooth constant velocity change(that's why it's called an automatic cv clutch) on the speed from the clutches and belt up until the limiter kicks in. Sounds like you need to have the clutches and belt checked out! Could be just needing a new belt due to being stretched or could have ramp button, spring damage or helix wear on the rear clutch causing the problem or front clutch problems not allowing full power or a combination of all three.
