Yep. You have to have a clutch puller to get to the left crank seal and pull the recoil, flywheel and stator to get to the other one. OPT

I got the new seals and pulled the stator, but i can't get the old seal off. Do i need to pull the crankshaft to free the seal?

Thin bladed crank seal puller at Autozone,Harbor Freight, etc for about 5 bucks will pull it right out. Seals on both sides just pop out. The replacement seals for this first year model will be the updated ones, but they just pop back in place. Best if you put a light film of grease around the lip and I've used blue locktite around the seals as a lot of European cycle repair manuals recommend. OPT
