After going over all the grounds and connectors it was still doing the same thing. I swapped the ecm out with a friends bike and it worked properly. Charging 14.5v. I will be ordering a new ecm. Thanks for all the help.

:thumbsup: Hate that people have to keep replacing these modules,but just the nature of the beast.

Has anyone ever tried mounting a voltage regulator from a 2004 on a later ecm equipped bike , stators have same specs , if everything else in the ecm is functioning there's no reason a external regulator couldn't be wired in ? It would be a lot cheaper .

Possible to wire in a regulator I guess,but the problem is won't be long until something else goes such as the fan control, solid state breakers,etc. I've had to replace ecms because some would short out and wouldn't even allow power to the ignition switch or dash,fans wouldn't come and would overheat,etc. Just too many things this module controls.Wiring a regulator in might last a little while,but I'd never trust it as a permanent fix once something has happened inside that box.
