My 2012 RZR 800 Caught Fire !
#1
I have recently put a HMF swamp series exhaust on my rzr 800. Has maybe 100 miles on it, but I've not ridden it more than 15 minutes, until today, after riding bout 20 minutes a friend stops me and says my header pipe is cherry red. Then after riding another 5 minutes my bed catches fire! I've not reprogrammed, but when I bought it, HMF told me to try it, it may not need reprogrammed, it was running fine, but something has to be wrong. Ideas?

...agree with OPT. Just about anytime adding a new exhaust system...the engine should be mapped correctly. HMF has the Optimizer...and is a good system. While you are at it...might want to add a free flow air filter too. Something like UNI...
Good luck!

where can you get reprogramming done at

Reprogramming (or remapping) for Polaris is through Polaris Digital Wrench software that Polaris dealers(or independent shops) are required to purchase. Not available to the general public that I'm aware of. (that may have changed, but doubt it) https://polaris.spx.com/DisplayByCat...x?cat=1&sub=23 OPT

It may not be just the programming. Exhausts that fit the 2008-2010 RZR will generally not fit the 2011 and newer. They changed the head design and the exhaust will be way too close. I'd get the stock exhaust back on - that HMF adds nothing but noise.

I thought the advantage of EFI was that it would make the changes needed on it;s own?

The ecu on efi machines can compensate for subtle changes in the engine as it wears and accounts for this, but any drastic change to the intake or exhaust system is more than it can handle and most cases has to be remapped to allow for the changes. You can also get into power commanders, just depends on how radically you change the system.
