Just got a 2005 Sportsman in and the problem is this...This atv has very low miles..When trail riding the hot light comes on and the machine shuts down..After a few minutes it will start up and run fine rest of the day..Appreciate any help..

 

Has the ecm module been replaced? Should have the new silver Sure Power ecm,not the black Chinese finned module. Even the newer ones can start acting up and cause problems.Many of em have. Does the fan cycle on and off and have you tried to bleed the cooling system of any trapped air?Radiator clean front and back especially around the fan area also? OPT

 

Radiator clean,the strange thing about this machine is it may only happen once a year.Rest of the time all is good..

Something that only happens once a year is hard to track down,but just guessing, do you ever have to top of the coolant? Could be a small water pump seal leak and could have some trapped air if you do have to add a little? Plus you can't ever dismiss those erratic ecm modules. OPT
