2000 scrambler 400 4x4...No matter what I do it keeps coming out. I cant keep it tight, even with green locktite!

I have fabricated a retainer plate that prevents it from coming out. There are 2 holes to the right of the swingarm bolt that can be taped for a 3/8 bolt...they are extended with a backing plate all set to tap (did polaris plan to maybe put a retainer on the bike?).

Anyways, if anyone is interested I may mass-produce these retainers and sell them (dont worry they will be cheap) or I can take some pictures to show you how you can make your own. It works mint and looks factory.

You trying to scare me or what? What is this about that bolt you're talking about? Does it happen to every model? Just asking cause this is the first I heard of this.

There should be a retainer plate on it from the factory. It fits under the bolt head, and you bend an ear over against the flat of the bolt head to keep it from turning.

Definately put me on the list for your fix. I have this problem every time I put my sand tires on. It must shake the nut loose then my chain starts slipping on the sprocket. I have had it warrantied for the chain once. but my warranty
has run out. and Im afraid to use my sand tires.
I paid too much for them not to be able to use them. please E-Mail when you have one.
Thanks Jay

I checked the parts manual and it looks like all they have is a washer. unless thats it and I just cant tell from the crude drawing. Do you have a part # for it? thanks Jay

I had the same thing happen to my 2000 scrambler. I used red loctite and torqued it to 140 ft.lbs. It hasn't come loose yet.
