Default Polaris belt

Ok...i have a 2012 polaris sportsman 500 h.o...i just put 14 inch itp ss rims and 28 inch itp mega mayhems on it..and to me it pulls like crap. Belt smokes when in a tuff spot like incline or even a little mud. I have ordered an epi clutch kit thats made to suit 27-28 inch tires. My question is will a clutch kit give me back the machine i lost when i took the stock tires off?? Spent 1100 on tires and i just want preformance to be ok... Thanks for any feedback

Welcome! Others will come on board to answer questions you have on clutch kits, but when you're smoking belts under a load are you in low range? This is where most people burn/glaze belts by leaving in high range. OPT

Both seem weaker than they were stock for sure...low gear still is not the best...only really bad when it seems like i need the power most.. In a hole or incline..im just wondering what the clutch kit is going to improve for me. A 500 should turn 28's good with a clutch kit right? Ive seen honda 350's turn 30 silerbacks so a 500 should turn 28's

We installed a bunch of 27" ITP SS rims and tires, can't remember if we installed any 28's. This one can be answered by the guys that drive em as far as clutching, etc. Someone should log on shortly.Hang loose! OPT

i know the belt on my scrambler started slipping and when i pulled it, it was totally glazed and crackin' between teeth. i installed a gates Gforce, with kevlar, and now instead of slipping i get wheelies. i dont know alot about the epi 28" kit but supposedly the engagement is much quicker, positive equalling less slip.

Ive bought the 28's now, had i known all this would have happened i would have just bought some 26's. ive been doing major research online and from what i see a clutch kit can make all the difference in the world on a belt driven clutch system. I should be able to get it instslled this week. Im not really sure if a heavy duty belt comes with it tho

Stick with the oem belt! You 'll probably get 99% of the guys on the forum that will agree! A lot a of aftermarket/heavy duty belts will do nothing but cause hard shifting and creeping because the dimensions are too wide and sometimes too tight. OPT
