Default Need help

my son's 2007 Polaris Outlaw 90 wont start using the electric starter but kick starts on first try. Purchased new battery as it still had original, but after a couple weeks, back to same issue - no electric start but kick starts fine. Tested battery and its good, any thoughts? If it matters, when I "jump" it, electric start works fine. Do these things have alternators?

Thanks

Check first that when you pull the brake lever in the brake light works. There is a switch in the left brake assy that controls the brake light and also functions as a starter interlock. It must work or power wont be transferred from the starter relay (located under the seat) to the starter. This was one of the most common problems, switch plunger wear. Another one is the safety switch shorting out. You can just jumper the the two wires going to this tether switch to eliminate it as a problem. Item #14 is the brake sensor/ plunger switch. Yes they have regulator/rectifier module that keeps the battery charged. OPT
