OK I went for a ride and I got some good details. I went ahead and hard wired the fan to come on with the key and left the t stat out to rule out heating issues. And once again about 6 miles in it started doing it again. I left it alone did some exploring and tinkering for 10 fifteen minutes and it ran fine for another two miles than went to crap. It will run if I keep it over 20mph but has no power. Drop below that you got to shut it off restart and keep speed. As soon as I got back because it just feels like a fuel issue now. I threw on my fuel pressure gauge and when you turn the key on goes around 35. Then you fire it and it steadily drops till it shuts off. If you rev it the fuel pressure will pop up some along with letting a little fuel out the schrader the pressure will jump up then too. So... Is there something that controls the fuel pump on these or they just run constant 12v. Is there a return line that's possibly plugged etc. Strange that it will run fine for an hour then does this but I feel like I'm getting close now. I can hear the pump running and also when I shut it off can hear bubbling in the tank which I originally thought was in the radiator why I chased the heating issue. maybe just overheating pump

A fuel pump pressure drop would certainly keep it from running properly! Pump sounds like a good price. But it still shouldn't cause the over heating problem. Like you said,if the pressure is dropping, then the pump needs to be replaced. Get this problem fixed, then test. Here's another alternative on the pump. NAPA AUTO PARTS

Thanks I'll get the pump this week and hopefully that takes care of my issue. It didn't overheat at all today guessing the t stat is not opening when it should or the temp sensor or fan relay is not working correctly and I will address that as soon as I get it going right until then it will just run a little cool. To top things off when I got back from town earlier I pulled in behind my fourwheeler and it looked funny seemed to be a bolt missing on the rear control arm. Upon closer inspection I snapped the lower a arm bushing bolt and the metal and rubber all fell out somewhere. So there's another 36 dollars. Still strange to me that a pump would run good for a long time and then drop psi after running for awhile. Hope it's not the fuel pressure regulator or something like that if it has one. I'm learning a lot on this quad still cheaper than going to the polaris house they wanted almost 600 for the tank/pump.

Having the rear control arm bolts and spacers fall out was a common problem on the 500 and 800s seems like.I had several brought into the shop for this. Be sure to locktite the new one! After you get the pump problem sorted out, check for the circuit breaker that controls the fan relay and see if the terminals are corroded! OPT

OK I appreciate it definitely will do. I actually snapped the bolt had to drill it and easy out it and already got the loctite next to it so I don't forget it.

I have no luck although it seems to be running better, well it didn't die today. Ran it for ten miles or so on a rough trail. Didn't die but it has a lope now like a cammed vehicle and is idling low. I didn't adjust anything but maybe now that it has good fuel pressure it is getting too much fuel. It sure smells rich and ran through fuel like it was free, so I was gonna adjust the tps and see how that goes I guess. On my way back I got bad noise in the front axle shaft. It started clicking every time I turn. I just can't win with this dang thing.

DON'T touch the TPS adjustment!!!! Check for any bare, soft feeling wires on the small sensor wiring that could be causing the problem. Plus look at this "sticky" post in the expert section about efi problems on the 700 and 800.

Ditto////X2 on TPS ADJUSTMENT, DO NOT TOUCH. You will be in the Polaris dealership having that reset if you do. Like OPT advised, go back through the t-map wiring harness, Polaris even sells a cheap kit that will eventually do the same thing, wear through again. Seen where members have fab'd their own wiring harness, poor design by Polaris. I found a bare wire on my '09 Sportsman 800 touring one day while running poorly at the fuel pump, can't remember for sure but Brown or Purple stand out in my mind at the monment, harness right a long the airbox. As for the clunk in the front end, well.....................give us an update when you tackle that

ok I won't touch the tps I will continue my search for possible wiring issues. tbap is good replaced with aftermarket and triple checked it. I'm pretty sure the clicking I got is an axle shaft getting ready to give sounds same as vehicles I've had.
