Default Winch Cable/Plow Problems

I have a 2012 Polaris Ranger c/w 3500# Warn winch and Moose snow plow. Cable is breaking way too often. Not over lifting. Not too much load (ie stuck plow). Any suggestions/solutions? Synthetic rope?

I have read that some are using tow straps wound on the winch drum, to raise their plows.

alot of people do go to the rope. i think maybe there is more flex in the rope cause less stress.

Most of the time the break is from the pressure of the wire rope on the bottom roller of the fairlead..I switched to synthetic years ago...You'll wanna get a short piece , like 12' or so for plowing. This eliminates the rope from sucking in towards the center of the drum because 12' will only usually make 1 tier of wrapping on the drum...Also you might wanna look into a polished hawse fairlead if you get the synthetic, it will give you a nice smoothe surface for the rope to slide on...

We do have a couple of options for just this situation:

Our Plow Roller Fairlead has a larger bottom roller, which will help decrease the stress on the wire rope.
Warn Industries - Plow Accessories: Roller Fairlead

We also offer a short 8' length of synthetic specifically for plow lifting.
Warn Industries - Plow Accessories: Plow Lift Rope

$75 for the two?

What a ripoff WARN!

A used tow strap sounds like a good idea.

Ummmmm, with "Warn" being the manufacturer. Their list price would be high, Shopping around, that stuff could be had for half that. Or you can just use a strap as said. No big deal................

A manufacturer takes the time to offer quality products for this solution and you bash them?
