i posted a topic a couple of days ago about explorer being faster than a ho.well i bought a new one today and when i got home i got to race my best friends new ho.there is no comparison in the power/ i out run him pretty easy. he weighs 200 and i weigh 180.both machines are stock.my new 400 has a lot more power than my 99 500 sp.i am very pleased with it.i would like to ride a 400 explorer that has a few mods /it would be raw.

 

The 400 Xplorer since it came out has been able to beat the SP, right now it the fastest Polaris utility and as far as I know the fastest utility on the market, I have not hear of or seen one beat. That 400 is a sweet motor, plus the xplorer is well over 100 lbs lighter.

 

Since you seem to be drag racing it before a proper "break-in" period, I hope you don't cause any damage. I'd hate to see your future posts talking about how your Polaris hasn't been dependable. Be good to your Polaris and it'll be good to you. I don't mean to rag on you, but the folks who flame on Polaris seem to be the ones who haven't owned one or haven't taken care of them. i dought that u beat the sportsman by much. I have both a H.O. and a Scrambler 500 4x4 and the scrambler w/ beat the H.O. but it will not murder it. Test it against a 500 scrambler and c how it does!

 

i think the HO engine and the xplorer engine have the same hp, its 38. But the Powerbands are very different. the reason the xplorer is faster is because is ligher, it doesnt have the IRS. dont drag race that thing untill its broken in.
