I am going to be doing a top end rebuild this weekend on my 96 trailblazer I just had the cylinder bored .020 over and had the head milled .020. Is there any tricks or advice anybody has as this is my first quad rebuild. Thanks for the Time.

1 Be sure to coat cylinder walls and new piston w/ oil

2 Use all new gaskets

3 tighten head bolts to the correct ft.lbs. and in the correct pattern

4 be sure that you "seat" the piston rings correctly when sliding the cylinder over the piston

5 double check everything............

Make sure the arrow on top of the piston is pointing to the exhaust.

The direction below are good ones and will help your rebuild last longer. But I think you missed one thing........

Since you already bored and milled, why not port! Open them ports up for some improved power! The first time I did my scram, I couldn't believe how much this cylinder was de-tuned. Knife the IN & Smooth th EX and you want believe the power you gain from removing so little.

Good luck.

Really don't need one, paper says don't coat the jug walls with 2-stroke oil (but I do - lightly). Make sure your rings are in the groves and lined up with the set pins on the piston in the groves. After install (remember to check everything twice), added oil to your gas(full tank) at a 40:1 mix if your still using your injector system. 20:1 to 32:1 if not. Spend the extra $ and get good premix oil! Golden Spectro! Now for the break in. Start and let warm up good, 5 to 10 min. Then run it around no more then 1/2 throttle and vary the speed. Do this for 15 or so min. Then shut it off and let it cool completely down. .5 to 1 hour will be good. Then do the same thing 2 more times. After these steps are complete, recheck your head and base bolts. That's it, your ready to tare it up! Remember: break in is vary important! Don't over rev it the first cycle, after that is not the important with a wisco in a polaris. Good Luck

I installed a Wiseco in my Sport. I remember there was a 10 mm bolt you unscrew to drain all of the coolant from the head.

Undo the hose clip on the hose that runs the water from the cylinder to somewhere below, and drain the water first. This is the lowest place to drain the water from.

The bottom bolts of the 400 need a torque wrench with a crows foot fitting as a standard wrench will not fit.

Also have your metric sockets and ring spanners ready!
