If it wont run right on a hill is that a float issue?

So this 01 Sportsman 500 runs just fine on a level road, start down an incline or up a hill and it starts sputtering and trying to die.Does this sound like the float isnt set correctly?Am I even on the right track?Any advice appreciated!

Possible it's carb related,trash/water in the carb that's picked up when on an incline or float level problem, but don't over look the obvious, make sure you have a clean air filter, prefilter. Drain the carb bowl screw first to see if any water is present, will show bubbles in the fuel if drained on concrete or water will settle in the bottom of a clear container.Carb kits if needed are fairly easy to install.

The problem on the BST40 carb is to make sure the float level is set right. Here's basically the same carb, but on a KTM. Float level adjustment is shown close to the bottom of the article. The BST-40 Bible - ADVrider

The PO clamied he just rebuilt the carb.I took it off, cleaned and inspected everything and found no water, issues, ect.Cant understand why its runs so good on level ground and then goes to hell on a hill.Just shot this video of the fuel coming out when cranking/started,does this look like a bad fuel pump?

Just pull the fuel line from the carb and crank the engine over. Have the line in a clear container. If the fuel pump is ok there will be a stream of fuel. Check for any water in the container after it sets awhile also. If the fuel pump is working ok,then it still may be carb related.. Don't take anyone's word for anything unless it's your mother! He may or may not have installed a carb kit, plus he may not have known how to set the float level properly.

Fuel flow does look a little weak. Check that the inline filter is clear. Blow it out or replace it. If fuel flow is still at a trickle may be time for a pump kit or a pump assy if you don't want to mess with a kit.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus check that the vacuum line from the pump to the other side of the carb is secure, not kinked.
