Sportsman 500 ho,does the ho have the weak cam also?
#2
I think the High Duration H.O Cam fix the soft problem. The sportsman got the H.O treatment (Carb and Cam) in 2001 and the Scrambler 500 got it earlier in 1998.
My 2001 has 4,000 miles on it and its still runs like new.
Strange thing is my dads 1997 SP500 is still run good with over 7000 Miles.
Differently sick to the recommended synthetic oil on the Fuji singles.

I have a 2001 scrambler i just replaced the cam due to it wearing out. (this is a H.O) I have read people having trouble with H.O cams but have not seen anyone with a 02 or 03 + with the problem. So my opinion is that it is possible they had trouble/or the wrong oil was used. Does the H.O have the problem no, but i have read place's where people have had issues up to about 01 or 02. But that is my 2cents.

No need to post twice on the same problem in the same section! Gave you a link to a pdf manual in your other post. No major problem on the the HO cams, but anythings possible.Look over the pdf manual to see if there is other things you may have missed. Plus if you suspect the cam,the manual gives you cam lobe specs to check. Always use a good synthetic oil. I'd stay with 0w40,5w40,or 5w50.
