Default aftermarket cv

So i blew a front cv apart this weekend on my 01 sportsman 500. I see some replacements on ebay for $39, they have a one year warranty and are labeled as heavy duty. Complete axles are $99. Has anyone tried an aftermarket cv? just wondering if they hold up at all.

39 bucks for a cv joint versus about $250 for an oem cv joint and boot kit would certainly be worth a try.

hmm maybe ill give one a go over the plowing season, see what happens. I always get nervous in front driveline parts. When i blew the stocker i couldnt steer and one tire locked up for a few seconds. But it was loaded hard, something that shouldnt happen in 2 wheel drive at cruising speeds.

I still think that's the main reason for going to centralized awd systems. I've had this happen on machines at the shop along with customers having a hub lock up at speed in 2wd. All it takes is for the axle speed to change when you blow a cv,or if you have an armature plate slightly magnetized, neglected hub fluid, leaking seals, can cause a hub to lock up unexpectedly. Scary situation when it happens. Makes you think a little the next time you get on one.
