I have a 2002 sportsman 700 and when turning over I have no spark but once I switch it off I have one pop to the plugs any idea what causing this ? Thanks

 

Look at all the posts on ignition problems on the early 700 Sportsmans.Just do a Google search. Changes from a Ducati system to a Kokusan because of all the failures. Don't try to buy Ducati stators or coil packs on Ebay! Here's the kit # and pdf instructions. About 500 bucks for the kit,but it's complete. What originally was the prob was that I had a broke flywheel magnet and it scraped the stator I didn't know if it was to bad or not I had no probs with it before until that and now once I replaced the flywheel it doesn't fire so maybe new stator would fix this ?

 

Problem with that is if you look up the replacement stator it refers to the new Kokusan kit#2202602 as you can't get a Ducati stator! As I mentioned,don't buy a used one on Ebay either as they will all eventually fail. Some people had indications of this system failing,others just killed the machine and it wouldn't crank back up later. I replaced more kits than I wish to remember.
